ISLAMABAD, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) — Eight people were killed and two others injured when two missiles fired by a suspected U.S. drone hit northwest Pakistan’s tribal agency on Thursday night, local TV channels reported Friday.
The missile struck a house near a religious school in North Waziristan tribal region, intelligence agency officials said.
The area is a stronghold of Taliban.
Jalaluddin Haqqani, son of Jalaluddin Haqqani who was a minister in the Taliban government of Afghanistan, is believed to live there, according to local TV channel reports.
The identities of the dead were not yet known, and it was not clear whether Jalaluddin Haqqani was present at the time of the attack.
The Haqqani group is reportedly linked to Al-Qaeda and known for its ruthless attacks in Pakistan.
