Singapore PM sends condolences to people of Samoa

SINGAPORE, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) — Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has written a condolence letter to Samoan Prime Minister Tuila’epa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi on the destruction to Samoa by the South Pacific Tsunami.

According to a statement by Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday, Lee said that he was deeply saddened to learn of the loss of lives and extensive destruction in Samoa caused by the tsunami in the South Pacific.

“On behalf of the Government of Singapore, I would like to extend our deepest condolences and sympathies to the people of Samoa. Our thoughts are especially with those who have lost loved ones or have been affected by this calamity.” Lee said.
