PATRIOTIC RECITAL

PATRIOTIC RECITAL

After two years away from the recital stage in Thailand, Thai Steinway artist Nat Yontararak will return with his beautiful and powerful piano sound during the “Awake! Thais… Awake!” concert at Thailand Cultural Centre on Nov 30 at 8pm.

Renowned Thai artist Nat Yontararak will present his patriotic composition during the ‘‘Awake! Thais… Awake!’’ concert at Thailand Cultural Centre on Nov 30 at 8pm.

The concert will be a revolution to the Thai classical music circle as it includes his latest patriotic composition – the first time that such music has been used in a piano recital to promote patriotism among Thai people.

The Silapathorn Award-winning artist will start the programme with his arrangement of a royal composition, Love in Spring, that endures in every heart of all the loyal subjects to the King, followed by Ballades No. 1-4, composed by Chopin – the great Polish composer and poet of the piano who made the voice of the Polish patriots heard all over the world when their country was being trampled upon.

In the second part, Nat will perform Klin Nang (Thou Fragrance), composed by Gen Prem Tinsulanonda, chairman of the Privy Council and senior statesman. It is followed by his own two compositions – Grande Valse Romantique to honour the 84th birthday of HRH the late Princess Galyani Vadhana and O La Nor… Duangduen Oey (Moonlight Reverie) to mark Chao Duangduen Na Chiang Mai’s 80th birthday.

Rounding off the concert will be the highlight – Awake! Thais… Awake! Patriotic March – composed in honour of Their Majesties the King and Queen. It has been transcribed from the patriotic song Ton Trakul Thai by Luang Vichit Vadakarn and will be performed as a solo piano piece in the classical tradition in an attempt to arouse patriotic feelings among Thai audiences.

Adding more colour on stage with dances in the second half of the programme will be dancers from the Christian Communications Institute, Payap University.

Tickets cost 500, 800 and 1,000 baht and can be purchased from the Gift of Life Foundation (tel 02-930-4004), the Bone Marrow Transplant Club (tel 02-250-1213) and Nat Studio (tel 02-541-8664).
