Amax And Malaysia Crime Cooperate To Check Crime
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 25 (Bernama) — WiMax service provider amax today formed a strategic partnership with crime watch website Malaysia Crime as part of the company’s efforts to help build a safer Malaysian society.
Both Amax and Malaysia Crime will work closely with and in support of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) by providing community access to crime statistics and information through the Malaysia Crime website www.malaysiacrime.com and www.amax.my .
Amax Vice President (Marketing and Operations) Ahmad Shah said amax would use its expertise in high-speed mobile communication to assist and support PDRM through collaboration with Malaysia Crime as well as other community-based activities.
“We believe in the right of all Malaysians to live, work and move freely in our communities during the day or night without fear of crime. That is why we are collaborating with Malaysia Crime to help raise public awareness of our need to work together as a community to face a problem that concerns all Malaysians,” he told a news conference here.
Meanwhile, Malaysia Crime’s principal Kegan Gan said his goal was to help Malaysians fight crime equipped with information through free access to accurate and timely crime data available on both the websites.
Currently, both parties are working with social entrepreneurs and the government to make available crime data provided by the PDRM.
Gan said the idea of sharing crime information sourced from the police was proposed to the Home Ministry through collaboration with the Multimedia Super Corridor a few weeks ago and Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein was receptive and positive about the idea.
Malaysia Crime website uses news records and a crowdsourcing platform to gather data and allows users to track the frequency and nature of crime occurring throughout the nation on a map.
Visitors to the sites can also report crimes that they have witnessed or fallen victim to.
“It’s user-friendly, free of charge, no censorship boundaries and visitors can post up their “YouTube” links as well,” Gan said.
