HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn honored at government banquet for Chinese Friendship Award
BANGKOK, 7 Mar 2010 (NNT) – Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn was the guest of honor at a garden party and banquet organized by the government on Sunday evening on the occasion that the Princess has been selected by Chinese people to receive the ‘Chinese Connection – Top Ten International Friends of China’ Award.
HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn traveled to Government House on Sunday at 18.00 hrs. The garden party was held at Santi Maitri Hall and a banquet hosted by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva on behalf of the Thai government and its people was held in the nearby Thai Khu Fa Building. Apart from this, an exhibition was also put up to publicize the Princess’s work and activities to promote Thai-Chinese relations.
Present at the event were many prominent figures of Thailand including members of the Privy Council and the Cabinet, high-ranking officials, and representatives from many organizations supporting the Thai-Chinese relations such as the People’s Republic of China Embassy, China Radio International (CRI), the Thai – Chinese Friendship Association, and Chinese societies and associations in Thailand.
HRH Princess Sirindhorn was voted online by Chinese people as one of the ten best international friends of China. The survey was arranged online by the state-run CRI. The Princess is the only figure in the Southeast Asian region to receive the award and is among the few living awardees.
HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has visited China for 28 times in 28 years since 1981 and she has been playing a vital role in fostering the relationships between the two countries.
