Suthep rejects suggestion against pubicizing info about UDD
BANGKOK, 7 March 2010 (NNT) – Deputy Prime Minister Overseeing Security Affairs, Suthep Thaugsuban, has rejected a suggestion given by some academic groups against giving information on movement of the United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD).
In response to the suggestion, Mr Suthep stated that the government was obliged to present facts to people. He said the information would enable the public to know the true situation and they could help authorities who were not many in number to observe unusual activities.
The deputy prime minister explained further that the number of government authorities was not adequate to oversee every area. He added that concealing information would not be beneficial to people.
Academics earlier suggested the government should not give details about the UDD movement to the public in order to avoid inciting emotions of some groups of people.
