Possible crimes nationwide under close surveillance
BANGKOK, 18 April 2010 (NNT) – The Metropolitan Police Bureau has adjured its security units to adjust the number of officers to help protect the public from possible crimes after the United Front of Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) protestors vacated from Phan Fa Bridge to stage their mass rally at the Ratchaprasong intersection.
The Metropolitan Police Bureau Spokesperson Police Major General Piya Utayo disclosed that after the UDD protestors moved out from Phan Fa Bridge to stage one mass gathering at Ratchaprasong intersection, the police commanders have assigned their units to increase the number of officers to meet an adequate level of security. He also said the security officers have also been instructed to help oversee the situation and regularly make a clear appearance in the communities in order to boost public confidence and trust in the security operation.
Major General Piya also said that the traffic officers have been reiterated to strictly enforce the law. Meanwhile, check points have been set up to keep an eye on related activities.
Major General Piya insisted that all commander units have been asked to stick with the operation of the crowd control company under the supervision of Metropolitan Police Division 1.
