Jurin: 2,000 Tambon hospitals to serve people in June under THB 1.49 bn budget
BANGKOK, 11 May 2010 (NNT) – Public Health Minister Jurin Laksanawisit aims to open 2,000 community hospitals or sub-district hospital within this year with the 1.49 – billion THB budget, expecting to launch services by 1 June 2010.
Speaking after the meeting of public health management, Mr Jurin cited that there were two forms of hospitals, single hospital and network hospital that included 2-3 health stations together. This project will be implemented with 1.49 billion THB of Strong Thailand Scheme.
The budget has been allocated in three forms in accordance with population number. Small hospitals to serve up to 3,000 people will be given 490,000 THB each, moderate hospital to serve 3,000-7,000 people will be given 690,000 THB/site, and the large one taking care of 7,000 people upward will be given 890,000 THB. Meanwhile, relevant personnel to perform at each hospital have been prepared with at least four positions in a single hospital and seven for a network hospital.
The Minister elaborated that he also proposed in the 2011 budget for other 8,000 health stations nationwide and these projects would encourage the people to access health services at nearby hospital with available efficient treatment. The main services are in health promotion and primary treatment.
