Blue Flag fair launched with style
The Blue Flag fair has been launched with style in honor of HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s 60th coronation anniversary and to help rally affected entrepreneurs lessen their financial burdens.
Permanent Secretary for Commerce Yanyong Puangrach presided over the opening ceremony of the Blue Flag fair at Challenger hall, Impact Arena Muang Thong Thani.
In the event, more than 1,000 discounted items are available such as fashion and consumer products. Exported fashion products are discounted by up to 30-50%.
More than 300 million THB is expected in circulation and more than 500,000 people are estimated to attend the event, which will be held from now until 21 May 2010.
Mr Yanyong said that the UDD rally had caused severe effects to the growth rate of Thailand’s export and delayed the opening date of the event due to the fact that the foreign traders were doubtful about their safety in Thailand. However, he said that the ministry had sent commerce envoys to bridge gaps of misunderstanding and to boost their confidence towards the current situation in Thailand with foreign trade partners. He also added that the event would help the rally-affected entrepreneurs alleviate their financial burden, mainly caused by the prolonged protest at Bangkok’s Ratchaprasong business district.
