Over 50 suspected militants arrested in NW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD () — Pakistani security forces arrested 51 suspected militants during a search operation in northwest Pakistan’s tribal area on Friday, a local TV channel reported.

Constabulary (FC) sources confirmed to the private TV DAWN the arrest, saying that forces conducted a search operation in the Sepah area of Khyber tribal agency and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition from the suspects.

The arrested suspects were shifted to an unknown location for initial interrogation.

Besides, as the army continued its operation against militants in the area, at least 10 suspected militants were killed in the latest round of airstrikes on Thursday.

According to FC officials, the militants were killed when jets pounded their hideouts in Teerah Valley of the agency.

A search operation has been underway in Bara and Teerah Valley over the last six months. Security forces claimed to have killed over 150 suspected militants and detained over 300 others during the ongoing operation in the tribal area in the last six months.
