U.S. Secretary of State to meet Australian ambassador
CANBERRA (Xinhua) – U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will hold her first one-on-one meeting with Australian ambassador Kim Beazley on Friday, Australian Associated Press (AAP) reported.
According to Australia’s media, the close allies have found it hard to find time to meet lately.
“It has been a little easier for Clinton to find time in her diary to meet Beazley on American soil, with the meeting expected on Friday afternoon U.S. time (Saturday morning AEST),” AAP reported.
The two will have plenty to talk about, with hot topics including the Australia, New Zealand, United States Security Treaty (ANZUS) alliance, the war in Afghanistan and recent tensions over Gaza and Iran. Clinton canceled a trip to Australia in January, and U.S. President Barack Obama has twice canceled his visits to Australia.
