32 members of banned outfit arrested in eastern Pakistan

ISLAMABAD () — The Pakistani police and law enforcement agencies Tuesday launched a crackdown against the activists of banned religious outfits in eastern Pakistan, arresting 32 members of banned organizations, the private TV reported.

The report said that law enforcement agencies’ personnel raided various locations in the cities of Gujranwala, and Nowshehra Warkanin in Pakistan’s eastern province of Punjab, the largest province in the country.

According to reports, all the arrested persons, who were picked up by the law enforcement agencies, belong to defunct organizations.

The detainees are accused of carrying out anti-state activities in the past and the arrests have been made to prevent any possible terrorist attacks, said sources.
