Emergency Decree not re-imposed in Nakhon Sawan yet
The Government has no plan to re-impose the state of emergency in the central province of Nakhon Sawan although violence was recently spotted in the area, according to Secretary-General of the National Security Council (NSC), Tawin Pleansri.
Mr Tawin affirmed that the re-enforcement of the emergency rule, especially in Nakhon Sawan, had not been reviewed yet. However, he admitted that some underground movements of ill-intentioned people were reported continuously, particularly in the provinces without the special law enforcement.
Mr Amnat Sirichai, chief of the Nakhon Sawan Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) was shot in the neck at 23.00 hrs on 11 July 2010 and passed away in the early morning of the next day at Sawan Pracharak Hospital.
The assassination took place in Nakhon Sawan, where the state of emergency was just lifted. Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva earlier was adamant that the case must be investigated if it was linked to the national political issue or not.
Mr Amnat recently declared himself to join the coalition Bhumjaithai Party led by Interior Minister Chavarat Charnvirakul. He was seen as promising political rising star, showing confidence that his team would sweep House seats for Nakhon Sawan in the next election with the existing staunch support from locals.
