Fincantieri Joined Van Geest Design On 106m ‘Disappearing’ Yacht

Italian Farm Fincantieri Yachts has revealed its latest concept; a 106-meter motorboat dressed in reflective glass. Designed by Van Geest Design, the six-deck Mirage has a 15.2-meter beam, a draft of 4.25 meters and a total GT of 4,200.

The yacht has been designed by Pieter Van Geest and Tracey Caravaggio, who has conducted extensive research on glass specifications and properties, before starting this project. Mirage is coated with glass with visual effects. The result is a yacht that “disappears between water and sky” and “blends on the horizon”, according to the designers.

“Expanding itself, Mirage tells a story of the time that reflects the day by a colored reflective surface that gives a peaceful look at distant distances,” said the design studio.

Some of the key features of this yacht include a forward “fun area” on the upper deck equipped with a whirlpool, beans and unfolding outdoor cinema, adjacent to a helipad landing platform. It is amazing and spectacular.  The guest circulation on board is through a central core, which includes a glass corridor that leads through the engine room to a full-beam spa, where all areas are equipped with “electric private glass”.

It can accommodate up to 14 guests and all 14 guests are accommodated in seven cabins present on the yacht. For accommodating a staff of 29 people, 17 crew cabins are there. The yacht also has a closed transom, to ensure boarding is only by invasion and can accommodate a bid that measures a maximum of 10.5 meters. Fitted with a pair of abt. 3440kW engines, the Mirage will have a top speed of 19 knots. Its performance is also extraordinary and exceptional.
